Story of a Black Wooden Stool
The black wooden stool Sumi was created from our desire to combine a clean geometric form with the warmth of natural wood. The seat, shaped as a Reuleaux triangle, symbolically connects three points of support. Just as three legs evenly distribute weight, three values define our work: authenticity, durability, and aesthetics.
Each stool goes through five stages of hand-finishing:
- precise joinery
- fine planing
- sanding
- application of eco-friendly matte black paint in thin layers
- a final coating that enhances the grain texture
The result is a piece that appears sculptural, yet remains fully functional for everyday use – it supports up to 120 kg and does not slip on smooth surfaces thanks to discreet felt pads.
Thanks to its compact size, the stool can be moved with one hand. Today it serves as a bedside table, tomorrow as a plant stand, and over the weekend as extra seating when guests arrive.
With its neutral matte black tone, it fits seamlessly into industrial lofts, Nordic minimalism, or rustic chic interiors. Wherever it is placed, it brings a quiet, sophisticated presence of craftsmanship.
